From a tasting at Pete's Fine Wines in Bellevue, WA, on December 14, 2008.

2000 Quinta do Infantado Late Bottled Vintage Porto
paird against 2003 Taylor Fladgate LBV

Also brick red, but with a hint of purple in its depths. It doesn't draw you in in the same way that the Taylor Fladgate does.

There's some vinegar on the nose, which worried me. It was distracting enough that I didn't note any other smells, but in retrospect I do remember that it wasn't overpowering and that there were other fruity smells there. Very dry in the mouth - well, for a Port - and somewhat tart, almost sour in a non-bad way. It tastes youngish, like it needs a few years to mellow out and integrate.

I wasn't fond of this one. It's far enough out of my realm of possibilities that I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, either.

Having had this one not to long ago at a tasting I wasn't very keen on it either for some of the same reasons. I don't think it will get better, I think it wasn't a great LBV to begin with. I've had better LBV's from Infantado than this one.
