Smith Woodhouse 1984 LBV: $23.99 = go...?

Post by Mike C »

A store in DC, Pearson's, is advertising seven cases at $23.99 a bottle. (Link--do a Find for LBV.) Tasting notes here at FTLOP seem a bit mixed. Go or No Go, do you think?

Thanks all,
Mike

Wow, I haven't been in there since 1995. A nnice shop with a decent selection of Ports, is it still owned by Steve?

I have not had that LBV since I lived in No. VA when it was still easy to get and at $16 back then for the 1982 and 1984. Still, hopefully you'll hear from those who have had the Smith Woodhouse more recently.

A very nice price on a nicely aged LBV.

That I don't know--I've never been; I've only lived here four months or so.

Shall I inquire after Steve and mention the Roy Hersh Fortification Discount...? :hello:

At that price, for something that old (for an LBV) how could you not try it. I just stumbled on a couple of half bottles of '91 Rozes LBV (bottled in '96) for C$10.50. It was a no-brainer.

I say drink a bottle right away and then, if you like it, go back for more.

Cheers.............Mahmoud
