1943 Barbeito Boal

Post by Ray Barnes »

Can anyone here share their experience with this wine please? I have been given an offer to acquire a bottle for $125, which seems like a good deal - I think anyway. Thanks for your help.

That wine is not on the Madeira Wine Guide vintage list, so I would guess that it's rather rare. Wine Searcher turns up a new bottle on Wine Commune that did not make the reserve price. The high bid was $75. The bottle in the photo looks brand new. The seller is in Denmark.

Have you seen the bottle on offer?

Buy it!

Hi Gary, that was my high bid actually, and the seller offered me 3 bottles at that price. I am also try to get the funds together to settle my other madeira purchase too.

What I don't understand (surprise) is that this wine is black with while stencilling, I thought Barbeitos had different labels. Different ownership at the time?

Thanks,
Ray
