1977 Niepoort Vintage Port

Post by Walt R. »

Opened in celebration of my daughter's engagement. When opened the room filled with a strawberry and
cherry aromas. Served after 7 hours. A mature port with a transparent ruby red color. Full body with sweet cherry and raspberry flavors. Tannins were integrated. Considerable complexity with spice, toffee, and licorice notes on the medium length finish. This is the most mature port I have had and I would look for more from this vintage. 93 points. I would have scored 1-2 points higher if the finish was longer.

Walt,
Congratulations on your daughters engagement  and a nice bottle to open. Older vintages of Niepoort VP's are not easily found and I'm glad you like it. Thanks for the TN on it
