1977 Dow question

Post by Steve Saxon »

I recently received 3 bottle of the 77 Dow VP, but when I looked at the label, it said:

Dow's
1977
Silver Jubilee
Vintage Port
Is this the same VP as the regular bottling? Or is it better or worse?
Thanks.

It's the normal Dow VP for 1977. 1977 just happened to be the Silver Jubilee (the Queen's 25th anniversary on the throne), so I think it was common for many of the producers to put Silver Jubilee on the label (being British).

You are going to love the 1977 Dow. It is just starting to drink well. Be sure to decant it at least 6 hours ahead of time.

Sage advice from one of the top Port palates I have ever met.
