83 Gould Campbell, Fonseca, Quarles-Harris

Post by Richard Beeken »

Recently came into fortuitous possession of this troika of 83's - I have no experience with any except the Gould Campbell - I've searched the previous posts here on these (aren't you proud of me Roy?) - seems as thought the concensus is that the Gould Campbell is the star, the Fonseca light-ish but serviceable, and the Quarles the iffy, weak sister of the vintage.
I think the gist of the collected port wisdom here was that these are more or less ready to go.
Just looking for an update and any new input on these especially re their prime drinking windows. Comments?

I did have the Quarles Harris and Gould Campbell. Gould Campbell is very good indeed and still have more years ahead. The Quarles Harris, tasted like 4-5 years ago was surprisingly good. Great balance, good complexity, could have more concentration and intensity but it was very satisfying, its more than ready to drink!
