A good week for Madeira

The last few days, I have been sipping on a 1905 D'Oliveiras Verdelho and it is absolutely ALWAYS ... one of my favorite versions of Verdelho.

I have packed up 3 bottles to take with me for some offlines and tastings this coming weekend during the Vancouver wine festival. A 1964 Broadbent Bual (anybody tried this lately?), a 1968 D'Oliveiras Bual and the Fernandes Brothers Over 40 year old Verdelho.

I don't have to bring any Port because the Port producers (and DOC wines too) will be there and pouring lots of VP and other categories.

Good week indeed. I'm really looking forward to scoring more of the Fernandez over 40 Verdelho!

Eric,

I enjoy that bottling so much that I would buy a case if it was sold here. My carrying case limits me to 8 bottles on this trip and I am sure that at least 4 and maybe 5 will be this Verdelho!

Yes I prefer the 1905, but I must say the value of the Manoel bottling, as you well know ... is phenomenal. It might just be my favorite visit on the island too, although Faja dos Padres is magical too.

We've got to find out if they're ever going to sell some of that Faja dos Padres Malvasia they have in cask.
