Your consumption habits
What would you estimate the percentage of all wine that you consume: is Port? Madeira? Douro DOC?
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Re: Your consumption habits
Guessing here as well:
Port - 25%, probably closer to 50% in the last six months
Madeira - 1%, maybe more with the FTLOP gala, but I've only ever bought a couple of bottles
Douro DOC - 5%, maybe a little more as we drink a bit of vinho verde in the warmer months
Port - 25%, probably closer to 50% in the last six months

Douro DOC - 5%, maybe a little more as we drink a bit of vinho verde in the warmer months

Re: Your consumption habits
Hahaha...
Port: 99.9%
Madeira: 0.1%
Wine: 0%
I don't drink wine (or beer), and I'm not fond of Madeira. I've only ever opened one bottle of Madeira myself, and it's still sitting on my wine fridge partially consumed because I never finished it. Hey, at least it's not being damaged by time, right?
A more interesting question for me is the ratio between Tawny and Ruby. Left to my own devices, I would probably drink twice as much Tawny as Ruby. But with all the tastings, etc, it's probably much closer to 50-50 and might even be tipped toward the Ruby side of things.

Re: Your consumption habits
My stats would be very similar to those posted by Glenn, but I don't spend as much time as he does drinking Madeira
Seriously, my habits seem to have changed completely in the past 12 months. I probably used to drink 75% dry red and 25% port but it is now almost exclusively port. I do also drink beer, but purely for medicinal reasons so it doesn't count.

I'd say around 35% Douro DOC, 20% Bordeaux, 30% Burg, 10% Port
5%: Rioja, Madeira, Barolos, Loire wines, Champagne
5%: Rioja, Madeira, Barolos, Loire wines, Champagne

Re: Your consumption habits
Well yeah not all from my cellar of course :) But still I do 1-3 tasting per week minimum plus my daily dose, that makes an average tasting of products of at least 20-30 per week :)Derek T. wrote:WOW! - and you told me you drink 150 bottles of port per yearFrederick Blais wrote:I'd say around 35% Douro DOC, 20% Bordeaux, 30% Burg, 10% Port
