Good score. How much is GST/PST additionally? Lot's of fun stuff ready to drink. Everything beyond the Graham and Taylor is ready to drink.
No GST/PST as it was from a charity auction, also no buyer's premium from the auction warehouse. Only killer was the shipping from Toronto to British Columbia. Put arrived this morning. Early Christmas present to myself. Might open the Dow's Crusted tonight.

1 x 1985 Martinez VP (it looks like it's an average, run of the mill VP, but I won it for $14, so it's worth taking a flyer on a 38 year-old VP)
2 x 1994 Croft VP

40 Year Old Kopke Tawny Port.

Finally obtained a bottle of the 2008 DR Colheita to write about. I've had it on tour once and possibly once at Glenn's home too. But I need fresh notes from a few days of observation and pleasurably tasting.

16 bottles from the DR Port offering. Sadly, I held on the 1885.

In 1988, I purchased a Martinez 1920 Vintage Port, from the esteemed Graycliff Restaurant Private Cellar in Nassau, Bahamas.
Wine Spectator gave it 97 points. Which puts it in the classic bracket. One more point it would have been considered superb.

I'm not a wine connoisseur, unless it's Boone's farm strawberry Hill!
My father purchased this in 1988, and now I see where this bottle is selling for $17 to $1800 US

I know nothing about this wine except for what I've just read on this forum and I'm really curious to find out what my father paid for this back in 1988. I can't find details online anywhere.

Are you referring to DR’s WHITE colheita 2008? One of my affordable favourites, bought on the 2021 PHT tour. Tried to reorder a few months ago, but Elisabete told me it’s definitively out of stock and replaced by the 2010. Happily bought six 2010 bottles, but haven’t opened them yet. Enjoy your 2008!

Random musings.

Yes, the White 2008 Port by DR. They are not selling it anymore. I had a TN on the 2010 in the newsletter in November. But friends told me that the 2008 was considerably better. Now I will be able to judge for myself. When you saw me mention a bottle of DR that was dropped from the offering at the last possible second, it was the 2010 DR White. The price was not able to be brought to a point where I felt it offered excellent QPR, so I got rid of it and added the 20 year old White Port instead for a significantly lower price point for our FTLOP peeps. Caused a lot of last minute work, but seeing how well that sold, I have zero regrets. The other thing is that even the 2010 won't be around for long, and I decided it would be best if left to be picked up by those visiting the winery.

Randy Katz, I am sorry you did not pull the trigger, since you likely have had the 1885 when visiting DR. While the quantity that were sold was very surprising to me, it is THAT good. So, I am glad that more than my best estimate reached ahead of time was obliterated. Speaking of which, the DR L70 ... you guys are crazy! [yahoo.gif] [yahoo.gif] [yahoo.gif]

Lastly, I bought 2 bottles of 1974 Barros to compare side-by-side with friends vs. the older carnation bottling ... both this year will be wonderful 50 year olds, with which to celebrate the Abril 25th Revolution celebrations sure to be wild here. :munch: [cheers.gif]

Surely you mean the 2011 Fonseca Colheita, bottled in 2023? Or could this be Mr Tawny going off-piste?

(I can insult Glenn like this because he has successfully corrupted my “I only drink Vintage Port” purity over the last 20 years.)
