I'm guessing "Tawny," "Tawny Reserve," and "Finest Tawny Reserve," which I don't usually associated with tawnies with an indication of age. :help:

Inspired by Peter's by the glass listing, I thought I would share the names of the glasses of Port that I enjoyed while on a trek along the California coast in late June:

At Trattoria Acqua in La Jolla...
-1996 Noval LBV (Unfiltered)

At La Folie in San Francisco...
-1984 Smith Woodhouse LBV (Unfiltered)

At Boulevard in San Francisco (half pours)...
-1970 Graham's VP (full pour)

-1980 Graham's VP

-1985 Warre's VP

-1994 Warre's VP

-1995 Smith Woodhouse LBV (Unfiltered)

-Porto Rocha Three Centuries of Port

At Gary Danko in San Francisco...
-2000 Sandeman Vau Vintage

-Ramos Pinto 30 Year Tawny

Bottles purchased last week:

-2001 Fonseca LBV (Unfiltered)

-2003 Taylor Fladgate LBV

Picked up a case of 1980 Sandeman OWC for $430

Have had this in magnum format several times and I want to say in 750 as well. Certainly one of Sandeman's best vintages from 77-94.

Just picked up two 1997 Novals. I've been looking for a pair for about a year, and was hoping that the price would come down due to the economy, but no luck. Finally had to just bite the bullet and buy them because the number of listings has been decreasing steadily over the last year.

You snooze, you lose. And I lost too. I got an e-mail with that Sandeman on the 9th. I just checked, and it is all gone.

Tawny, Tawny Reserve, Finest Tawny Reserve

I understand that these are formal descriptives, but I can't seem to find a reference to it in my books here.

Thanks! I'm new enough to Port (first bottle in late 2004, and not much after that one until well into 2005) that "Finest Tawny Reserve" hasn't been allowed for pretty much my entire time drinking Port. Anything that's not part of the 2005 regulations change tends to throw me a bit. :help:

Really? I am buying this off of a friend, not a store...

I think "Finest Tawny Reserve" is allowed per the 2005 regulations. See Article 7, section 5.

Ahh, well a store did have it, but their web site no longer lists it.

This is quite a coincidence, indeed, considering that I couldn't find even a single bottle 1980 Sandeman's on wine searcher... :)

It is. If he bought them there and sold them to me, that will be quite funny. I do not mind if he made a few bucks, as that is the business he's in and in the end I am still getting a deal.

11 bottles of the Costco offering of Warre's Otima 20 year old Tawny Port. I could not resist the temptation.

So Roy is in WA and Andy is in CA, but where is this available? I don't see it on Costco's site - is there a 'back door'?
