Important news about TAP Airlines

Post by Roy Hersh »

Air Canada announced Wednesday it had forged a new strategic partnership with TAP Portugal, the largest carrier in Portugal.

Under the so-called code-share agreement, the carriers will be able to seamlessly transfer passengers onto each others networks at select Canadian cities, such as Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Ottawa, as well as Porto and Lisbon in Portugal.

It will also allow for TAP to use Air Canada flights in international cities, like Newark, NJ, London, and Madrid, the carriers said.

Well this is really advantageous for those in Canada. However for Americans, I can tell you that upon returning from Portugal and unless going to Newark before any Canadian city, you will have to go through Canadian Customs and pay outrageous duty there and go through significant hassles (been there done that). So, be aware of this prior to making any reservations.

After a number of years reading about Canadian Customs I avoid traveling through there with any type of wine. They are ruthless!
