More from the wine tasting last week. Am pouring over my notes...
An incredible tawny. Had the Graham's 10 year a few times and really liked it.
Subtle, smooth, fruity. While the aroma of oranges are present, they aren't overwhelming. Almost yellow in color.
First sip is with nutty flavor but not sure which nut it is (taste buds trying to adjust for the vintages I had first). Fruit is a mixture of oranges and berry. I thought it had caramel but it ended up being toffee, so the candy is there. Best described: Awesome balance of fruit, nuts, and candy. Very smooth. No bitter aftertaste which often gets me with nutty tawny ports.
Second sip is just as balanced. No difference. Very enjoyable. A definite hit.
Like this one much better than the Dow 20.

Re: Graham's 20 Year Tawny
Mark,
I enjoyed reading your note. The Graham's 20 is one of my favorite bottles of everyday port, and I think that your description captured its essence. In concordance with your assessment, if I had but one word to describe the Graham's 20 it would be balance.
