Quevedo launches a Rose Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

From the Press Release today,
Quevedo Rosé is a Port Wine made from 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca and 30% Sousão, from the young vines of the Quinta da Trovisca. The juice was cold fermented for 10 days with a limited contact with the skins. The result is a light and delicate but fresh Port.

Interesting. I wonder how it compares to Croft Pink Port and if this is the beginning of many other producers making a Rose Port.

 I'm scared by how bright the color is, as it reminds me of a bad raspberry flavoring syrup I tried for Berliner Weisse. But if I could find a bottle here, I'd give it a try.

In a word, Yes.

I have been told of many other companies that are currently in the process of coming out with their own Rose Port. This is a product line that isn't going to go away, like some others thought would happen with Croft's Pink Port.

Congratulations Oscar!

I'd definitely give it a try. I find that even tawny Port is a bit too heavy on a warm, sunny day, and so I'd like to try something a bit lighter. Sounds like Rose Port might be the answer!

Do I see a pink/rose port horizontal in the horizon? :joker:

Thank you Glenn, and also thank you to Andy to post this here.

Eric, I think it's worth to try a Rose Port. It will not replace the traditional red Ports as you'll drink a Rose on a warm afternoon with your friends. And you'll hardly fall in love by a Rose because it will not differ much from harvest to harvest. But I think Croft made a good job bringing this innovation to the marketplace.
