Bebidas Nacionaise e Estrangeiras

Post by Al B. »

This is a shop based in R Conceicao da Gloria, 28 in Lisbon. Its been recommended to me as a place to visit if ever I am in Lisbon and need somewhere to be able to buy "hard to find" bottles of wine.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of this shop?

Thanks

Alex

Hi Alex,

in Lisbon, I strongly recommend Garrafeira Nacional. They have a website

http://www.garrafeiranacional.com/

but beware of the fact that to the prices listed you have to add tax - I forget the percentage, but something like 20%. It is worth visiting, and in my experience the prices are very reasonable.

Not far away from Garrafeira Nacional there's another jewel, Manuel Tavares,

Rua da Betesga 1 A e B

They have also a website, but not very useful, in fact almost useless except for the address and maps on how to get there.

For Porto and Madeira, especially old and rare, these are in my opinion the best places to go.

Hope this helps,
Rui

PS: I personally cannot vouch for the shop you mention.

I have been to both and prefer Tavares. I have some great photos in both of their shops/cellars from my visit in 2003.
