[Madeira @ Triomphe (New York City)]: Dark in color. Good palate impact and intensity. Lovely flavors of tea, spice and nuts. Superb citrus-like acids provide lovely lift and cut. Tangy, lip-smacking and long. (93)

[Madeira @ Plumpjack's (San Francisco)]: Some VA, but this is exceedingly rich and long. Really clings to the palate. Something about the nervous energy in this wine really captured me. Nice edginess to it. Fantastic length. (95)

[Madeira @ Patroon (NYC)]: Dark caramel color, but not quite opaque. A complex wine, with much more “evolved” earth aromas. Truffles, earth, minerals, coffee, molasses, and other “things” I couldn’t quite name. The downside is the lack of acidity, which made it slightly cloying (or maybe I was spoiled by the acidity in the previous wines). Very Good. (89)
