TN: 1880 Blandy Verdelho Solera

Post by Marco D. »

Big nose of chocolate, raisins and spice. Quite dry and bracing on the palate. Almost Sercial type dryness. Served with Bolo de Mel, but would have been better as an apertif. (92)

[Madeira @ Triomphe (New York City)]: Lots of volatile acidity. Dark in color, but a bit light on the palate. A bit soft and a bit short on the finish. Some malty aspects. Good wine, but it does fall a bit flat, overall. (87)

I remember that bottle very well. Thanks again for bringing that honey cake. I liked the Verdelho quite a bit, although not a top notch bottle. Pretty darn good for a Solera.
