1980 Ferreira Vintage Port

This case of '80 Ferreira is an oddity that it was imported upright and has been strored upright. Every bottle varies from being quite tawny looking, to being relatively fresh and well preserved.

Last night's bottle was quite ripe with coffee notes and a lingering toffee in the mouth. Color was garnet, excellent sweet nose that reminded me of an old tawny or vintage older than 1980. Excellent weight and not hot at all. Cork fell right into bottle when cracking the wax off. Bottle was gone with in an hour after 3 hours of decating.

I was talking about Moses actually posting a TN finally, don't discourage him or I'll have send the State'ies back out to his place to take care of some business again

Good luck finding '80 Ferreira so easily. Actually, Ferreira did pretty well with their vintages in the 80's. Can't say I have had all their vintages of this decade, but have had several and all were favorable considering the price point.

Agreed about the 1980s versions and it is one of my all-time favorite 1975s (as I've mentioned ....er, a dozen times or so.)

:beat: <---- self abuse.

Andy, you are absolutely correct. I did a double take when noticing that it was actually MOSES, yes, THAT Moses ... who posted a tasting note. Here I thought it was divine providence that had caused this anamoly! [beg.gif]

Imagine if he and Sean ever got around to really posting their TNs here? What a concept! :scholar: Yeah, Sean who? [shrug.gif]
