Here is a sparkling red I would love to see some reaction on!

TN: Luis Pato Baga Espumante Bruto.

Not sure of the vintage ( might have been n/v) as this sparkler was consumed at a non-wine event and I just took it along!! $19 Cdn was an excellent price I thought.
Bright pink in color, nose had a herby fresh berryish tone. 100% Baga grape, light mousse as one would expect. Really enjoyed by all on the neighbours patio during a recent warm spell, sorry I cannot be more specific but this was fun, different and one to look out for!

Wow. Never come across this one, though I tasted the (white) sparkling Maria Gomez in Lisbon years ago.

Never heard of this so thank's for the TN on it. Sounds very interesting and I'd like to try this some day.

There are two Luis Pato sparkling wines that I found in Edmonton. Each is made with a different grape. I tried both this past summer and liked them. The Maria Gomes is a sparkling white while the Baga is more like a rose and is the better of the two being a bit more full bodied and structured.

Both are well worth trying, the Maria Gomes as a crisp, dry, refreshing appetizer and the Baga to accompany food. I seem to recall reading that Luis Pato also made a sparkling Touriga but I hadn't seen that anywhere. Would definitly be one to try.

Cheers........................Mahmoud
