Bottled in 1986, a amber/orange colour with bricking on the edge. Raisins, marzipan. Long soft and voloptues aftertaste with a superb balance. Definately the blockbuster of the evening.
Never had a Niepoort Colheita before. This one is a keeper.
I wonder what it would be if it was given more time to breath.

Re: 1970 Niepoort Colheita
I've only had this once, and although it had a ton of bottle stink when first opened, was a beauty. Glad you got to try this bottle as your first Niepoort Colheita so you can see how great some of them are.

Erik,
As a Dutchman, I am kinda surprised that you've never had a Niepoort Colheita before. If I am not mistaken, Dirk's Ports are very well represented in your country. I don't know which I like more the Colheita or the 1970 VP by Niepoort, as both are excellent. Glad you finally lost your Niepoort Colheita virginity.

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com
