I've got a 1992 Vesuvio picked out and ready to go. How will you be giving thanks?

Mike.

For the US, that would be tomorrow, Nov 26. Sadly, I missed the Canadian one back in October.

The beauty of being a Canadian in the US...I get to celebrate two Thanksgivings. [dance2.gif]

Not many Port drinkers in my family, but I just decanted a 2007 Pombal do Vesuvio Douro wine for dinner in about 6 hours.

In the US, the fourth Thursday in November*. A harvest festival, supposedly in continuation of a festival celebrating the first successful harvest in the new world (1621) by the Pilgrims, to which they invited representatives of the various local AmerIndian tribes who had assisted them in methods of agriculture. (In school, we were taught that this involved burying a small dead fish with each cluster of corn seeds to provide fertilizer.)(We were also compelled to dress up as Pilgrims and Indians and call each other thee and thou.){edit - I think I didn't turn on Curmudgeon Mode soon enough.}

(Curmudgeon Mode ON) :soapbox:
* This allows retail stores to pre-plan a uniform day (Black Friday - so called as being the day which puts retailers "in the Black" or making a profit for the year) of shopping madness where all right-thinking citizens compete for bargains and claim to finish their Christmas shopping for the entire year. This also avoids putting up too many Christmas (advertising) decorations before Thanksgiving (which annoys a great many people - including myself).
(Curmudgeon Mode OFF)

Oh, and (resuming Topic): Nimrod.

What's he's trying to say is Black Friday allows normally sane people to act like jack-asses (aka Nimrod's) in order to save $0.10 on a product that costs $10.00

Nimrod: from Websters online: not capitalized slang : idiot, jerk [berserker.gif]

I´m thinking about a Dalva 97 VP , a Portal 2006 and 95 and a 2005 Vesuvio for the best friends and relatives :lol: ... my wife´s family is enormous, and for Christmas, we are about 50 persons [welcome.gif] ... it´s sad but I´ve to show to portuguese people that Port wine isn´t only the Calém (3 old men) :beat:
