TN: Broadbent Old Reserve Terrantez Madeira

The Broadbent has a Tee-type stopper. Of course the wine was made by Justinio's for Broadbent and the Tee stopper shows this. It has a somewhat lighter green amber-gold color. The Broadbent shows more nuts, caramel and creme brulee. No VA that I noticed. On the palate, it shows a medium weight. Less richness but more acidity. I like it's balance. After several hours, it has put on weight and some sweetness.

The next day, it has continued to put on weight. Richer with good balance.

On the second day after opening, it is also quite rich. Less sweet than the Barbeito and more classically Terrantez. It's obvious that these two wines have a considerable amount of older wines as components. The richness and maturity are evident

Given your experience with this bottle (or anyone else who'd like to chime in), what do feel would be a great price relative to quality? A local wine store has this on sale, was thinking of taking the plunge. Also, does anyone know how many bottles are out there? Seems relatively easy to find online and most reviews state it was one barrel only. Thanks in advance! :munch:

When I first bought this wine in 2006 and 2007, the price was $40-$50. It was a bargain at that price.

I would think that a representative price for this wine now would be $125-$150. The Barbeito reserve terrantez was around $145 the last time that I saw it for sale. I think that they are more or less equal in quality, although I prefer the Barbeito. I still have two of the Broadbent terrantez.

I would think this is quite expensive now. There are no longer any stocks. Barbeito doesn't have any more of their old Terrentez either having used it up with their first New Orleans blend.

The last two that I bought cost $39.99 each in December 2013. But that was in Rhode Island, and they are sometimes behind the times down there.
