This wine was a bit of a disappointment in San Francisco, due to a muddied and slightly sour taste, I suspected it needed further decanting back then. I’m not sure if the different decanting regimen was responsible for the difference this time around, but I absolutely fell in love with this wine in New York… I now comprehend the foundation for its lofty reputation. This had a nervous tension about it, a lovely severity. Haunting cognac, brown spice and cedar notes. A somewhat minerally, dusty, savory finish as well. Lovely length. Bravo! (96 points)
