With just three weeks left ... it's that time ... so do you have a single favorite or a list of the greats you have enjoyed this year?

Having been able to finally taste (and drink) a decent amount last week, I think that for me it's a toss-up between Casa Ferreirinha Colheita 1998 and Niepoort Batuta 2007. Completely different wines and both superb in their own right.

Gotta say the 1990 Niepoort Robustus, what a mind blowing wine that was and I am very grateful for Luis opening this for us. [notworthy.gif]

But the very close runner up was yesterday's 1998 Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa :yumyum:

For me there are two, one that I have in my cellar and one I get to taste at two (at most) wine-tasting events per year (but too expensive to purchase some bottles unfortunately :( [beg.gif] ).

Quinta de Chocapalha Tinto 2003

Quinta do Vale D. Maria 2005 Curriculum Vitae ( at Euro 70 a bottle a little too expensive for me).

I'll go with Batuta 2004. I did open a bottle that I thought was defect. 24h later, I tried again the decanter and WOW! The wine had awaken to give a impressive show!

Frederick, I take that to mean it needs time. I don't intend to drink any of my bottles for a while.

I guess my best was a Barca Velha 1991 drunk last January. Sorry, no TN, but it didn't seem OTH, as some might worry.

Tough question.

Perhaps Ramos Pinto Duas Quinta Reserva or Symington's Post Scriptum
