1984 Hooper's Vintage Port

Not a very pleasant experience. Bought in 2001 and kept for 8 years in a dark cellar. The cork looked OK, but split in half and crumbled and was eventually scraped out of the bottle in tiny pieces. Decanted and filtered through a cheese cloth. The colour was light and brownish, but the bouquet had a note of something unpleasant. The taste was also rather light with some tannin, which hardly ever will disappear. It was hard to say whether this is just a bad port or 'bad cork'. I didn't recognize it as the latter, though. 71 pts.

Sorry about the poor showing. Off the top of my head, I don't recall ever having a VP from this vintage. Although I've had a couple of LBV's from 1984. It wasn't a great year overall, so I'd guess it was just a poor bottle. But regardless of how it showed, [welcome.gif] to FTLOP and thanks for the TN!
