Anyone who has been to this rugged region knows just how dangerous it can be, and how long it would take to get emergency help. Not to mention how long it would take to get to a trauma hospital once an ambulance reached you.

Having said that, I am glad to see the Symington's have stepped up to the plate in this tough economy and donated a new ambulance with life-support equipment to the town of Sao Joao de Pesqueria.
The Symington family handed over a fully equipped ambulance to the Fire Department of the historic Douro mountain town of Sao Joao de Pesqueria on Saturday 16th January. The Symingtons have long followed a policy of helping local institutions in the Douro such as hospitals and other charitable bodies. Many of these do not have access to the facilities available in Portugal’s major coastal cities.

Symingtons are a true class. Good for them to be so generous and I love their portfolio of wines! [cheers.gif]
