MADEIRA ROAD SHOW - MARCH 18th 2010
Posted: Fri Feb 26, 2010 12:01 pm
I was speaking with Mannie Berk today to see if there would be interest in doing a Madeira Road Show, while Ricardo DeFreitas (owner of Barbeito) is in the USA. He liked the idea and we have yet to find a venue (just spoke to him 10 minutes ago) but we're considering Thursday night March 18th in San Francisco.
Is there interest from
Madeira lovers to attend such an event? I am trying to gauge interest before we do all of the work involved in putting this all together, so quickly.
These are non-profit events where everyone pays for their own dinner (usually about $150-ish) and has to dig deep to bring a great bottle of Madeira along and then share it with the other attendees who are also bringing a great bottle along. I tend to help in coordinating the wines into cohesive flights and make sure that everyone is playing on the same plane, in terms of what they are going to ante up. Then comes the work coordinating all facets of the dinner.
So please let me know if you are interested in attending and if we have a good amount of people from here, I'd then let Mannie know and he could then fill the rest of the availabilities from his clientele. So ... who wants to join us?![Toast [cheers.gif]](./images/smilies/cheers.gif)
Also, if anyone in the Bay area knows of a BYOB upscale restaurant, I'd appreciate you letting me know.
