How dark does the storage need to be?

I read something and started wondering, HOW dark should the storageplace be?
I have a storage cabinet, vibration free and all, the glass-door is uv-protected but not acctually DARK.
This picture shows it pretty accurate (not the cabinet i have but about the same opacity in the door)

Is that enough or should i darken it?
Thanks

Sebastian,

That should be fine. I have a similar cabinet. The only additional step that I took was to ensure that no light (especially sunlight) ever shines directly on the door. With a little bit of a tint and UV protection, you should be in good shape!

I agree with Glenn but one other thing that might be important to protect against is flourescent lighting. Utilize incandescent lighting and with that door's UV protection and you'll be fine.

Glenn, Roy:
Thank you :)

The cabinet stands pretty light, never in direkt sunlight (the sun misses it by a few meters at sunrise), as you can see at my picture.
I will tint the door with a darker window film. And only use incandescent lighting.

Will light in itself damage wine?
Can it even effect a VP in a black bottle, which to me seems completely non-transparent ???

The bottle may be black in the visible spectrum and be fairly transparent to UV. UV is the killer; it can cause chemical reactions to happen faster, or even to happen at all.
