I've seen mentions of this wine on several web sites, but nothing on the RWC web site or Barbeito's web site. Does anyone on FTLOP know if/when this will be released? Has anyone tried it yet?

Yes, I know answers to this but am literally typing in the dark and won't be able to revert info until the light of day.

Mystery solved. The Savannah verdelho is on the RWC current inventory list as of today. Now to get some and try it.

I see, and now I remember, this discussion started last spring. Of course, RWC's Savannah Verdelho only showed up in central Florida for the holiday shopping and sipping season.

I have been waiting for the opportunity to buy it and try it. I know that I spent too much for the bottle ($60), but there are only one or two non-base madeira offerings anywhere locally.

My opinion was confirmed after tasting some. Don't get me wrong, the wine is what it purports to be - a very good verdehlo, great for afternoon sipping or a small plate pairing. Lighter all around, nice acidity, with a mild, inviting aroma. My opinion is shaped somewhat by the price; this and the Charleston Sercial rank noticeably below the Boston Bual (best of the series) and the New York Malmsey (second) . Worth the price in the $35-$40 range. I could get by with a base Rainwater madeira as a small plate pairing.

As I said, don't take this comment too seriously...the bottle will be finished before Christmas.
