The dry wine from Noval is fabulous. You should find an opportunity to try it.

I seem to remember that Noval don't do Mags. But that may just be Nacional.

One shop in the US claims to have mags of the 2007. http://www.brownderby.com/wineproduct.php?pf_id=95153

I was about to buy the 2007 Vintage, but it was sold out very quickly in my country. Amazing reviews from everyone, and very few bottles available. :(

Espen,

I met the Noval agent a few weeks ago, he told me Norway's share of the production was 120 bottles (no mags). Sold out 4-5 days after the release.

Thomas and Eugene,

How far do you guys live from one another? Are you planning to get together to drink some Port. That is the beauty of :ftlop: ... we've created so many friendships all over the world. Look at what goes on now with our UK brethren, that all met here. Sadly, England is the size of a pea vs. here in the USA, so getting together from anywhere in the country can pretty much be done in the time it would take me to cross my own state. Crazy!

Seriously, you two should hook up. There are so many others here on FTLOP from Norway too, although not posting much now.

Roy.

One end of Norway is quite far from the other so it may be easier for you to go to an offline in Miami than it would be to organise a Norweigan off-line.

I would invite the guys to come to the Uk but the last time we had lots of Norweigan's visiting us at the same time it was quite a riotous time

Derek

But Oslo and Sandefjord are about 120 km apart, and as I recall there was another FTLOPer on the other side of Oslo not too far away.

Hate to break it to you Derek, but California is 160,000 square miles and Los Angeles alone has over 4 million people (the whole state is about 40 million people  And we are only the 3rd largest state in the USA by square mileage! So a tad larger than Norway (no offense meant to Norway).

I can drive 1000 kilometers and still be in Michigan, and that's a fairly small state. Elbow room we have; easy get-togethers, we don't.

What a good idea Roy, to organize a Norwegian offline. I would gladly host a port event here in Sandefjord, if I was able to gather 6-8 :ftlop: 'ers.

Derek, I'm on my way in a longboat. Mind if I bring a few of my berserk friends?

I definitely would love to join, if something happens here. I live on the other side of Oslo, so I won't get the chance to join very often, but anything is better than nothing. :-)

I once heard a saying that explains this perfectly:

In America, 100 years is a long time.
In Europe, 100 miles is a long distance.

Neither side really comprehends the vast difference in the other side's measurements. On one trip to France, my wife was talking to a Belgian couple who were planning a trip to NYC. The talked about the various things they'd like to see, and then casually mentioned that they thought they'd also like to head down to Texas to see the land of George Bush. My wife paused and asked if they knew how far that was, and they said yes they were sure it would take a day to get there. When Kari explained that driving to Texas would be farther than driving to Athens they were quite taken aback... the physical scale of the U.S.A. just doesn't register to most Europeans.

No problem - they'll fit right in with the UK Port-tasting community

When you find the 6-8 FTLOP'ers for an offline, please send me your address. Seriously!

Ok, then let's get the Norwegian port fanatics out of their cellars. I don't have any wine buddies, but this must be a good place to start.

I've never seen mags for sale of 1997, or any other vintage (expect the one listed above for 2007). While they may have bottled some for in-house use or "give-aways" I can't recall ever seeing one offered for sale.
