2005 Niepoort LBV Port

Post by Thomas Tideman Holst »

Popped and poured. Dark redvioletpurpleblackish colour. Fruity smell of sweet, ripe dark berries. Taste of very sweet dark berries, raisin and plum. Medium concentration, and smooth tannins - to the point that the wine lacks "bite" and character.Well integrated alcohol. Medium length and unimpressive mouthfeel.
In my view this is an ok midweek easy drinking port. Too sweet and not enough character...

I agree with you on this one Espen, I thought this was an excellent LBV and one that needed a good deal of air before it showed at its best.
