10 Year Old Tawny Port by Krohn

Post by Mark D »

Opened 01/14/10

Bottled 2009. Opened 14/1/10.

From a shop in Lisboa. Attractive bottle.

Light mahogany colour, fading brown at the rim

Fresh nose, nuts and chocolate, some heat.

Fills the mouth well with good balance. Acidity holds well with a nice zing of heat. Marzipan dominates a long finish; a little lingering bitterness, and some heat remains which is refreshing.

I would say this is superior to most 10 year olds.

+ 1 week later:
Seemed to get sweeter further down the bottle. Possibly not that superior to most 10 year-olds, but a good port at a good price. Anyway, shall keep the bottle as it'll make a nice decanter-ish container.
