CHICAGO lurkers, come out!

Post by Demitri P »

Hello all,

I'm coming out of the closet. No, not that closet. :D This is my first post and I'm starting to get more into the hobby. [imnewhere.gif] I recently subscribed to Roy's newsletter (Thanks, Roy) which is providing me a valuable education. I'm 39 and an obsessive, hardcore smoker/collector/fetishist of cuban cigars.

Well, I think you can guess what I like to pair with cigars.....

Anyway, the purpose of my post was to round up the Chicago-area residents for:

1. Group Buys
2. Tastings, get togethers.

BTW, I live in the Loop across from Union Station.

Best regards,

Demitri

Demitri,

Welcome to the world outside the closet (whichever closet you are coming out of today). From the quote above I think you will fit right in here. Obsessive, hardcore, collector fetishes are what we do here - some just do Port, others like you, Moses, Sean C and a few others also "do it" with cigars.

Dimitri,
Do you smoke only Cuban cigars?
We had a thread on the other discussions board last year on cigars.

Hi Demitri,

Welcome to the board! Definitely keep an eye out here and on the Wine Berserkers board for offlines in the Chicago area. There's actually a small one tonight on Amarones, so no port at this one. But I'm definitely up for a port offline at some point.

Dimitri,

Please let me know if you do plan any Port tastings after mid-Oct. I'd love to come to Chicago (it has been years) meet some local Port enthusiasts and finally get to meet John, who I've known online for years. That would be a pleasure. Unfortunately, I know at least for me, I can't get out there for about five months. I hope you do get to meet some others from the area. If you plan something really good, I am sure people from other parts of the country might even be willing to join in the fun!

Best regards,

Roy
