What can anyone tell me about this? Mike Roddy (owner of my favorite restaurant) told me he got this "because Roy spoke so highly of Madeira" when he visited. I think he just saw it was Madeira on some distributor's wine list and bought a couple of bottles to try it.
Are we likely to enjoy it? Is it a good example of Madeira? What type of Madeira is it?

This is made from Tinta Negra Mole and is meant to imitate a semi-dry Verdelho style. In my personal opinion most of the D'Oliveira wines offer very good value while being rather "old style" with aromas on the roasted and heavy side of things, but still very enjoyable. I think you are going to like it, especially since the D'Oliveira wines are always powerful enough to be paired with food (But then that goes for most Madeira wines I know).
Best
