For The Love Of Port

Was wondering if anyone had tried Jose Maria da Fonseca Trilogia, a blend of Setubals from the 1900, 1934, and 1965 vintages made to celebrate the Millenium, bottled in 1999. Originally imported by Broadbent.

I've actually had it twice! It is a divine wine with fabulous elegance and fine acidity bearing the sweetness most impressively. Think it's almost up at 200 grams of residual sugar Checking my notebook it is rated a 93 p at the second occasion. On the first I didn't rate it.

Now, should I be a bit critical it is mostly 1965 in the bottle, 70%, and 15% each of the other two vintages. I don't know the price in the US but we can buy it in Sweden at EUR 100 for 50 cl. For me that's a bit too steep considering I'm mostly buying 1965.

A greater wine for me is the Bastardinho 30 YO from J.M. Da Fonseca. Never felt those nuances in a Moscatel before. Sadly, the vines of this clone was up rooted in 1974 because it was too difficult to control - hence the name. But at a Moscatel de Setubal tasting I held last year the 30 YO Bastardinho was the winner! EUR 60 for a 50 cl bottle last year in Lisboa.
