1978 Broadbent Bual Madeira - A tawny/dark amber hued appearance.  Smoky scent with hazelnut, caramel and saline.  Full and rich in the mouth and even more so the second day when it had plenty of air time.  There is a real nutty sense to this Bual and a sweetness balanced by a citrus flavor and crisp acidity.  It remains light on the palate and shows purity of fruit while delivering a mid-palate which is four square.  The finish is long and shows nutty, caramel and tangerine flavors on the aftertaste. 90 points ~ 7/17/08
