1983 Gould Campbell Vintage Port – Another bottle opened on the exact day, to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the website and Forum. An inky dark plum color that was so extracted that it stained my decanter.  I cannot remember a time when a Port with over a decade of age actually did that ... no less one with 25 years of bottle age. An intoxicating nose of mocha, menthol, fresh flowers, black pepper and a gentle spirit essence in the background. Very full in the mouth, smooth and round but extremely viscous at the same time. The Gould delivered a concentrated and chewy wild berry blast with gorgeous chocolate filling out the expansive finish which was extra long and slightly hot. At 25, this is incredibly youthful and no way I’d guess this as more than ten to fifteen years of age. It will drink beautifully for another 2-3+ decades. 94+ points ~ 7/29/08
