2000 Casa Ferreirinha, Quinta da Leda Vinho Tinto, DOC Douro red wine - Deep garnet red color. Initially there was a very distinct vanilla extract note that dominated the nose, but it was accompanied by raspberry and dark cherry as well. I enjoyed the palate even more, with a smooth and full-bodied presence and fine balance. The fruit is bold and makes for a great pairing with hearty dishes, tonight with a London Broil and mushrooms. A suave long finish with a peristent plum/prune note. This is the type of wine, worthy of a case buy.
