Made from the same grape source as the Niepoort Vintage Port and kept in wood for four years. Niepoort prides himself on the fresh and fruit dominated LBVs he produces, which are immediately approachable while at the same time, quite cellar worthy. Intense purity of violet fragrances and red fruits on the nose. This LBV which is the perfect addition to any restaurant wine list, is still in a delicious primary stage. It features flavors of black cherry and boysenberry fruit which is almost brambly in nature. There is plenty of palate crushing berry essence along with a hint of coffee beans, accentuated acidity and enough tannins to let you know that this will drink well once opened. It was even better the second day which is a very good sign. Pair this Port with soft cheese like Serra de Estrela or Manchego, chocolate desserts or fruit cobblers. 92+ points (4-5-08)
