Although I visited Pocas for the first time about 12 days ago, this bottle was opened on LI, NY with one of my best friends from childhood. He is starting to appreciate VP and wanted to try an approachable young one. The 2003 Pocas fits the mold and is a really beautiful young Port. This was a pop and pour experience with no time to decant ahead. Surprisingly, this showed really well right from the get go. Big juicy blueberry and boysenberry fruit and so enjoyable from the very first sip. Lots of balancing acidity and hidden tannins at this stage, but a very smooth texture makes this easier to appreciate now, however it has the guts to hang for a couple of decades too. Beautiful persistence on the aftertaste.
