2005 Casa Ferreirinha Esteva, DOC Douro red wine - At a reasonable 12.5% alcohol, a refreshing change, this is a nice weeknight quaffer. Perfect with a burger or other beef, lamb or pork dish. Roses, dark raspberry and cherry bouquet offer enticing perfume. Initially a bit coarse on the palate, this smoothed out nicely with two hours in decanter. Soft and supple tannins with crisp acidity to boot. This is really a food friendly red wine but does not exemplify enough Douro character at this stage. 87 points ~ 7/3//08
