Tuke Holdsworth “Personal Reserve” Ruby Reserve Port – it is part of the Hunt, Roope & Co. which was established in 1735. It shows a medium ruby color, with slight bricking at the rim. Hot, spicy strawberry, licorice, plum. Full-bodied the second day after showing a lot less so the first day, the Tuke also is significantly less hot. Rich for a ruby Reserve with seemingly older juice like a wellaged LBV. Good acidity and overall balance. Simple but tasty with a finish of modest length. It is a solid example of a Port which has been in cask for 8 years and then an additional ten in bottle. The Personal Reserve, is a solid QPR bottling and a bit unique, just not complex.
