This maybe a dumb question , but what does "bond" mean?
When I buy a bottle of wine in the Netherlands, I just pay 19% taxes.
Could somebody please explain this to me? Thank you.
I myself lóve the Niepoort 20 years old. I don't like 10 year old tawny's very much, as they don't give me much drinkingpleasure. 30 and 40 years old tawny's often are to expensive in my opinion. (I've never had one)
So, what aged tawny do you prefer?
I had a "rule" before the euro was introduced: 25 Dutch Guilders max. for a bottle of wine and 75 Dutch Guilders max. for a bottle of Port. After the introduction of the euro, 4 years ago, it seems that everything has become twice as expensive. So now it turns out to be € 25 for wine and €...
Someone offered me this VP (which are well stored) for €30,00 a bottle.
I know this isn't much, but I haven't had anything from this house before.
Does somebody has a TN on this one or can tell me if it is worth to try?
I have red a few TN's in where VP's had been double decanted.
What is the purpose of double decanting a VP?
Normaly I decant them into a nice decanter and poor the glasses right from it. Am I doing something wrong???
It's a very good suggestion, Roy, just came to late for me. There was this time when I realised that I would have to empty almost 1000 bottles of wine mostly on my own, as my husband only drinks (special) beer........... At that time I forced myself in decreasing my winepurchases and started to buy ...
About 15 % of my cellar is port and trockenbeerenauslesen,
but than again, it depents on how much bottles you've put into storage in your celler to know if thats a lot or not..... :?
I've red the thread on eBob also, and it might be mine imperfect understanding of the Englisch language, but isn't it possible Roy, that one person has the weevil in his '77 VP and the other hasn't? Do I understand it well that when you have one bottle affected, and humidity and temperature are just...
I bought (and allready drunk some bt.) a case of Warre LBV 1992 about 3 years ago and the manager of the store told me they would still improve a bit and be quit enjoyable until 2012.
So my question is: Do unfiltert LBV's generally improve by bottle-aging?
I've been reading several times on other forums about VA concidering many vintage ports from 1985. I do have some Fonseca, Graham and Taylor of that year in my cellar. What can I expect?
Could anybody please explain to me what it is coused by, and is it possible to prevent it?
Roy,
I think that most working people need at least some months to plan a week off. At least I do (husband, children, work, free days left, dog, cat, house, etc, etc.)
I do have two questions:
First: How many times a year you are planning to do this trip.
Second: Will they all be for a week or are you planning to do shorter trips ( 3-4 days for instance ) too?
Well uhm, my addiction to fine chocolate exists longer en probably is even much more bigger than to port.
And I also think that it depends on personal taste.
