Re: What is your longest complete vertical?

I just checked my cellar software and my longest complete vertical is of Noval Nacional. This vertical spans the period from 1960 to present. Apparently I also have an almost complete vertical of Taylor from 1955 to present, but there are a couple of holes that need to be filled. Ooh, do you have t...

Re: Cedovim Brand??

Looks like Cedovim might be owned by Agostinho Amável Costa? Never heard of them either, though.

Re: Cedovim Brand??

Take a pic of the back label. Bottle looks like what Agri-Roncao (DR, Porto Augusto) uses. DR's bottles that have a similar shape have a squared bottom and a straight neck. More importantly, they're 500 ml. They are a dead ringer for Augusto. And I think Agri also does Corvos?? Can Anyone confirm? ...

Re: Cedovim Brand??

I can't recall having heard of them before. But for $20, snag it quick! How bad can it be, really?

Buy one, go sit out in the parking lot and open it to try it, and if it's good go back in and buy the other 4!

Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area -- 2023 version

My preference would be for Saturday also. I plan to arrive Friday evening and would rather not go straight into a tasting from the airport. I do currently plan to stay through the weekend, so would be up for something on Sunday as well. If nothing comes together then I'll change my plans and f...

Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area -- 2023 version

I'm still in... I'd fly down for 4-5 people. Because Port! But seriously, I'll probably stick to my original travel plans and be there all weekend. So I'll be there all day both Saturday and Sunday and available for whatever people want to do. If at least one day is going to be at Andy's club,...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

Just ordered my first batch of 2021 Graham's The Stone Terraces. 6 bottles on pre-order. They won't arrive (in London) until September. Just ordered my second batch. This batch includes a tregnum! So I now have 12 bottles and 1 tregnum headed for my storage facility in London. Retail price in the U...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Wow, that's quite a weekend!

The assumption I'll make is that the Romaneira was one of the new(er) bottlings with the black & gold label. The older ones had the "40" in red and were distinctly different - for me, about 3-4 points better!

Re: 1998 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

The one we had 3 years ago in our mini vertical of 1994-1998 was the least favorite of that tasting, but I still gave it 93. I think Vesuvio is just another one of those producers whose style suits me, along with Graham and Fonseca. I think this point of yours: "There's no rush to drink these, ...

Re: 1995 Smith Woodhouse LBV Port

Maybe too old? I have never experienced old LBVs (more than 15 years old) but for me also Smith Woodhouse LBVs are among my favorites (2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008 on more than 10 times). They were around 12-14 years old and they were all in balance. Maybe? But I doubt it unless it was just variation ...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Pure coincidence! Is there a non Ervamoira version as well? I was looking for that one in the cellar instead, but wasn't sure if there was such a thing and took the first one I found. Yes, Ramos Pinto produced both a "full" Ramos Pinto VP and a SQVP from Quinta da Ervamoira in 1994. Inter...

Re: 1995 Smith Woodhouse LBV Port

I used to love this LBV! Have you had it before, and did this seem typical to you? I recall it being much better than 88 points, but it's been quite a while since I've had one.

Re: What have you opened this week?

1994 Ramos Pinto VP "Quinta de Ervamoira". Opened last night. Was ready to enjoy on a pop and pour. Super smooth and rich. Delicate spirit. I hope it doesn't fall apart over the week. Cork was perfect. Really dark in the glass with a minimum of sediment in the bottle. Inspired by me decan...

Re: Decent youtube interview with Miguel Braga of Mourao

As I recall, Miguel's family owned 5 properties. Are the all included in the sale, or just Quinta do Mourao?

For example, most of the white grapes were grown at Quinta da Poisa.

Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area -- 2023 version

I will probably fly in Friday evening just to make things simpler. It's a short (ish) flight down from Seattle, so I'll just get it out of the way, get checked in, and then be ready whenever on Saturday. I can be available to help set up, etc., too. Which means I'll probably fly home on Monday and j...
