Re: Birthday Butt

That's a fine looking butt, Moses. I've smoked a lot of butts, but have never done the beans underneath. My smoker has a side-mounted firebox, so it doesn't develop the heat under the smoking chamber required to finish the beans. I bet they're delicious with the juices from the butt dripping on them...

Re: Harvest Tour Odds & Ends

I thought the email that Roy sent out said the tour dates for 2009 tours were all set...

I can't find them posted anywhere?

Re: 1990 Burmester Colheita Port

Andy,
This was a great find. I'm going to go back, perhaps today, and see if they replenished their stock, since I bought the only bottle on the shelf.

Re: 1990 Burmester Colheita Port

Andy,
I just picked up a bottle of this today, will likely sample it this weekend.
It's my first Colheita, as I'd never heard the term before discovering FTLOP..

Can't wait,

Re: vinha da palestra

It's on Cambridge Street, just South of the East Coast Grill.

The food is excellent and I would consider it authentic.

vinha da palestra

Ok...first, let me say that this is not a "premium" wine... We had dinner last night in Cambridge, Ma. before going to see Robin Williams. We discoverd a small restaurant there that I mentioned before, Casa Portugal. We had dinner there, and ordered an inexpensive bottle of wine for...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself

Actually, as far as shipping goes, we had some good news here in the Commonwealth yesterday that Moses posted regarding shipping into the state. The court struck down the law that prohibited that, so hopefully things will change for us in the near future.

Re: 2003 Ramos Pinto Reserva and Especial

Moses,
I'd be interested in a case...probably the Reserva, unless the Especial was just TOO good to pass up :)
I may pick up a bottle today, if I can find it locally, just to sample...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself

Hi everyone, I'm Jim and live in Central Massachusetts, just a bit East of Worcester. I was introduced to port about 5yrs ago by an evil friend that was looking for an accomplice, and after the first taste, I was pretty much hooked. My wife and I had been drinking red wines for approx. 20yrs. Don't ...

Re: 2003 Ramos Pinto Reserva and Especial

I was in Hopkinton Wine the other day...hadn't been in there for quite some time, and they had a reasonable selection of ports, much better than the NH liqour store up on 95 heading into Portsmouth. I buy a lot of wine up at that store, but I've found that many times I can beat there prices with som...

Re: 2003 Ramos Pinto Reserva and Especial

Moses, I live about 30miles west of boston. Just found this forum, glad I did :) Do you have some suggestions for good places to shop for wines/ports? Out in Westboro is Julio's, but they have a so-so selection of wines, and a less than so-so selection of ports. Btw, have you been to Casa Portugal i...

Re: Rare Port find at Costco San Diego

I googled it, and it looks like the other bottles are going for $1899/bottle, so I'd say that's a pretty good deal.
