Re: The Rise of White Port
I usually have a couple of bottles of white port to make (summer) tonic coctails :D . My brand for that is Quevedo. And I do like the Quevedo 30-YO white port a lot! I have two bottles of this left (only downside is the bottle contents of 50 cl). I had one bottle of the 1971 Dalva Golden white colhe...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Fonseca 1997 VP (Magnum). Just bought this at auction over here. I realised (about 20 seconds after the fact), that I overbid myself online by putting in a higher bid on the standing bid (which was my own written bid, that I put in earlier) [dash1.gif] :D :D . But at least I prevented another online...

1985 Delaforce VP 2x (Magnum). Started to fill in the missing (large-sized) bottles for my 45th birthday dinner at the end of this year. And I needed some VP in Magnum (which is matured enough). Seemed a good start

Re: What is the greatest year for Vintage Port of these?
I took my pick from the vintages I have had the chance to drink/taste myself (hence, 1900, 1912, 1927, 1931 are not an option to choose from for me (so far ... ))

Re: What have you opened this week?
on Christmas eve, I opened up a 1963 Avery's VP, it seemed a tiny bit corked. Yesterday, after Christmas dinner, we had a 1995 Kopke VP, and later on the evening I returned to the 1963, which seemed to have improved a bit (still not a great showing but quite enjoyable).

The year's not completely over, but so far: - White Port: Quevedo 30 YO White port - TWIOA: Quevedo 40 YO Tawny (2015 bottled) - Colheita: 1983 Niepoort (from Magnum, ex-cellars brought by Dirk to the Port event in Leverkusen Nov 3rd) - Vintage: tie between 1977 Warre and 1983 Niepoort (from Magnum,...

Re: Which Bottle Has Been in Your Possession the Longest
For wines, I still have some reds and whites that were bought in may 2007 (2005 Bordeaux red and monbazillac white). For Ports, I started buying (and collecting) in 2007 (2005 Vintage, since my oldest son is from 2005). I received my first 2005 VP's in november (still have all of these). And my spre...

Re: 1973 Quinta do Noval LDV Port
Thanks for the note on such a rare beast Gerwin. Lovely colour and a great result for an LBV with the full six years before bottling. Clearly a commercial style that turned out well. As for you Andy, I feel somehow that you should be one to taste my only 1973 vintage "port", the inverted ...
