Re: March Madness: The next Port Buying Op - details.

I just got my case last night and having only had the 30 yo before I'm super excited to try the 40 yo. Thanks Roy for putting this together and I'm glad to know that another great brand is making it to the states now. Looking at the fridge now, it's time to start working on room before the next op. :D

Re: SAVE YOUR MONEY

I think I'm in the same boat as Russ. I picked up a case of the Taylor and most of the corks are pushed a bit and some of the bottles have seepage. I didn't check fill levels yet. Disappointing, but I haven't tried them yet. I plan to let them sit a day or two after traveling (just got them yesterda...

Re: new newsletter

I had to laugh because I tried the Help Desk page: http://www.fortheloveofport.com/helpdesk and got a nice 404 error. Also, when the help desk page doesn't load it mentions to notify webmaster@fortheloveofport.com, which seems to get rejected as a valid email address. Good Times.

Re: Buying Op for later this year

I need more madeira so I say Yes as long as it is a broad offering (price rangewise) and not just the ultra high end stuff.

Re: HUGE BOTTLES of Warre's 2007

Wow, I always make sure I have friends to help finish a 750ml. I think a 3 liter even with a party would be a stretch to finish for me, maybe I need bigger parties. I can't imagine how many people you'd need to drink a 9 liter bottle, unless it was a FTLOP party. I'm guessing some of those larger fo...

Re: The Next Great "Subscriber's Only" Buyer's Op

I'd lean toward splitting the shipping out separately, but it's not a deal breaker. It's just nice when the per bottle price seems cheaper.

Re: Winesearcher.com and FTLOP Buyer's Opportunities

Roy, you and Eric M. bring up some good points. I don't really use wine searcher a lot, but the issues you've seen with it I've seen with most other price search engines (such as pricewatch, and even google). My biggest fear when buying wine is that it's been stored properly, which is why I don't bu...

Re: Ship to Florida wine store needed

B21 is a very nice store. I think it's one of the largest sellers in Florida from what I've heard. I've been there a couple times in Tarpon Springs (it's on the other side of the state for me). But I don't think they have too many old ports and I don't remember them carrying any decent madeira. They...
