1949 Ribeiro & Ferreira Carvalho Bairrada Garrafeira ???

Anyone know what this is? I know it's not Douro, but I thought somewhat here might recognize it. I know the region and have done a bit of reading on it, but I don't have any idea about the longevity or quality of this wine. I bought a bottle of it a couple of weeks ago at $50, knowing full well that...

2X 2000 Quinta do Noval Nacional

As much as I'd love to hold on to these an upcoming trip and a few pending wine purchases make it a difficult proposition. I'll offer them up to this board first and give it a few days before looking elsewhere. I'm offering them for $500 each or $950 for the pair. These bottles were purchased throug...

Really, as inexperienced as I am with port it's hard for me to answer that intelligently. I own two more bottles that I would think shouldn't be opened for a very long time; however, given my impatience and their value, I'm really considering selling them off for more affordable/drinkable wines.

2000 Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port

As promised: Decanted 8 hours. As large-scaled a monstrosity of a young port as I've ever had. Intensely sweet dark, rich fruits and mint. Firmly tannic with an alcoholic bite. A tasty and fun experiment, but just too massive and young for any sort of meaningful assessment. Not surprisingly smoothed...

Handling Young VP

I thought a question would give me a fine excuse to join these forums. I recently picked up a few bottles of 2000 Noval Nacional for an exceptional price. I'm confident with the provenance but, never having had Nacional, my curiosity has gotten the better of me and I plan on opening one in the next ...
