Re: 1994 Niepoort Vintage Port
Probably a good thing I've only got a couple of bottles of the 1997, then, whereas I invested more heavily in the 2000.

1994 Niepoort Vintage Port
I tasted this at a couple of tastings when it was young, at a time when I was quite new to port. It kind of blew me away, and I refrained from buying the 1992, which I also liked, intending to spend my money on the 1994 instead. I was disappointed when it was never really available on the Norwegian ...

Re: TN: 2003 Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa Douro
Thanks for posting this. I have only tasted this once — at a tasting with the Douro Boys back in 2005. I meant to order a few bottles but hesitated a little, and it was too late. At least I can now enjoy a kind of ersatz tasting.

Re: Decanting Taylor's 1985
Thanks, folks. Decanted three hours plus before drinking at the end of a meal with Portuguese wines (Pato Vinhas Velhas Branco 1991, da Silva Colares Chitas 1999). Dried fruits (esp. prunes and dates) and some spice on the nose. Quite soft and easy and, by all means, very, very pleasant. People love...

Decanting Taylor's 1985
I only have a single bottle of this. How long before drinking do people in the know suggest that I decant this (hopefully) lovery bottle of port?

I tasted the 2011 at a wine fair yesterday. Stylish and impressive.

Re: Alvarinho.
I didn't know they made Alvarinho. I assume this is the same producer that makes Loureiro. Been a while since I tasted that.

TN: Caves Transmontanas
I just looked through some notes and was reminded of this producer who I came across at a wine fair last March. Does anybody here have experience with their wines and know anything about the producer? The name sounds like a coop. I tasted four wines, and two of them tickled my fancy. Among the two s...

Not sure if I should post a reply... I tasted this at a Portuguese wine fair in March, but I can hardly read my own hand writing, and it's risky to give advice just like that. I seem to have found it promising and concluded that it needed a little time. It was the first time I tasted wines from this...

Would the people who thought so, find old VP (or any old wine of a certain quality and hence -- often -- price) to be worth the money? Isn't it more that Colheitas are not as famous as VPs, and you often buy VPs young, so they don't appear to be quite as expensive for that reason? FWIW, I haven't ta...
