Sorry for leaving you hanging.
I took the various advice above that the 1994's might be wasted after an evening of consuming too many other drinks.
I settled on the 1996 Malvedos. A less spectacular port but simpler, and more agreeable to a crowd that has already imbibed.

Christmas 2024 - Open some 1994s?
Trying to plan the Christmas/New Year's wines to open. For Christmas dinner, I have some nice Canadian chardonnay and pinot noir. But for after dinner the real question to the experts - What 30 year old wine should I open? 1) 1994 Taylor Fladgate VP (have 2) 2) 1994 Warre's VP (have 2) 3) 1994 Quint...

Managed to get a case of 1994 Quinta do Vesuvio last week at auction. With it, also got a case of 1996 Malvedos.
Will open one of the Vesuvio tomorrow!

Quite a bit of a delay since I tasted this initially. Unfortunately, the first tasting was bottle 9 of the evening so I felt I couldn't make any useful comments. 2 weeks later I was able to revisit the 1964 Dow's. A distinct funk when first poured, which coupled with the cloudy, murky look in the gl...

Re: 1964 Dow's Reserve Port -- Colheita
Hi Andy I know it is a long time since you posted this review. But I have gotten my hands on one of these 1964 Dow's Reserve bottle and I am planning on pulling it out for a friend's 60th birthday party next week (born 1964). You mentioned 10 years ago that you felt it was entering the later stage o...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Good score. How much is GST/PST additionally? Lot's of fun stuff ready to drink. Everything beyond the Graham and Taylor is ready to drink. No GST/PST as it was from a charity auction, also no buyer's premium from the auction warehouse. Only killer was the shipping from Toronto to British Columbia....
