Re: Taylor Fladgate Vintage 1992

The port was excellent. He was swinging between raisins, chocolate / caramel, maple cream and date. Nice creamy texture without being dense with a nice acidity that holds everything together. It was at its best about 7-8 hours after opening. But in my opinion the most important factor was the temper...

Taylor Fladgate Vintage 1992

Tomorrow I am going to open a Taylor Fladgate 1992 and I want to decant it about 5 hours before tasting it.. Then I will drink the bottle for another 4 hours.
Is the decanter time sufficient?
Thanks

Re: What have you opened this week?

Last week i opened the first of my 3 Sandeman Vintage 2011. I saw several comments that said that this Port could be good for more than 50 years. I was suprised but i now understand why. There was beautiful fruits and freshness with a dense and powerful acidity well balanced. Everything i drink in 2...

Re: What have you opened this week?

I feel that way about the '94 Fonseca as well. I own a lot of both. I should own more of the '94 than I do, but it's just so much more expensive than the '85 that I have difficulty rationalizing the purchase. I've been getting relatively better deals on the '94 Fonseca than the '85 lately. Yes, the...

Ouch 120$ (around 160 Can.)is a real big deal! I dont think ill ever see a bottle under 200$ (Montreal).

Vesuvio seems popular...
I just got 1X Graham Vintage 1994 and 1X 1994 Vesuvio at auction. [yahoo.gif]
The price was okay.

My first 1994 Graham but my second Vesuvio 1994 so i think i'll drink one in the next 5 years.

Re: Question about drinking window vintage port

I drink Vintage Port as soon as i can (around 3 or 4 years) in 375ml bottle to see how is the new vintage. Generally i drink 3 or 4 bottles. After i wait at least 20 years because i don't think that the Port will be different. I dont' have too much occasions to drink Port older than 40 years but my ...

Re: Vintage VS. Tawny

I saw almost the same explanation about the quality of LBV. Do LBV are better in declared year or not declared year? It was funny to see the différent answers between producers… especially between Symington, Quinta do Portal and Fladgate Partnership. Each had different responses due to their persona...

In this vid (around 26:40) David said : In perfect year we make a perfect Vintage Port and in imperfect year we make Tawny Port and after many years in wood it become a perfect Port. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYBwmsStfWw I always thought that they take different grappe between Vintage and Tawn...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

There is no Stone Terraces at the SAQ (i have never see one). The regular Graham Vintage (2017) is around 150$. There's plenty for sale at retail around Boston should you come down this way. A few places had it discounted, but I haven't check them in a while. With the family and the job (time), the...

Re: How long do you age LBV port?

I'm glad to see your experiences with old LBV. After that I drank a wonderful Smith Woodhouse LBV 2002, in 2015, I started to buy some LBV to keep them in my cellar. I want to drink them between 10 and 20 years (normally i drink my LBV around 6 years old). Now i think that i will drink my LBV later ...
